For decades, I worked in a service-based profession where showing up for everyone else was just part of the job. I learned how to stay composed under pressure, keep moving, and push down whatever I didn’t have time to feel.
From the outside, I looked confident, capable, and in control. On the inside, something was tightening , slowly, quietly, and consistently.
Over time, I realized that I wasn’t living from clarity or calm… I was living from tension, obligation, and survival.
It wasn’t dramatic.
It was subtle — the way stress becomes normal, until it becomes everything.
And when I finally stopped long enough to listen, my body told the truth:
I wasn’t okay. And I hadn’t been for a long time.
That moment changed everything.
